ULUWATU, BALI

We used Seminyak as a base to pop over to Uluwatu.
We wanted to explore this part of town as well but also liked Seminyak and we were short on time. Next time we go to Bali, I think I’d like to go straight to Uluwatu! It was breathtakingly beautiful and seemed a little quieter and more spread out, with more of a beachy resort vibe. We spent our first day in Uluwatu at Omnia Beach Club. Perched atop a 300-ft cliff overlooking the expansive Indian Ocean, this “club” was the perfect place to relax and unwind.
We made a reservation for two poolside chairs, which came with a minimum spend (I can’t remember what it was, but it was not super cheap). We really enjoyed the music, food, and drinks, and stayed all day, popping in and out the pool. It was a very international/touristy young scene. Lots of instagrammers, bottle service to VIP sections, etc etc.
We watched the sun set in the distance - truly one of my favorite sunsets to date. I won’t share too much more about this, because this place has apparently closed permanently. Perhaps when the pandemic is over and travel resumes, it will reopen. When it got dark, we took an Uber back to Seminyak. It was a long ride, but I remember our Uber driver being very cool and having an amazing playlist! It’s always nice to connect with people who have taste similar to yours when traveling.
G&Ts were our drink of choice.
This club overlooked the ocean - truly truly stunning.
This sunset was one of the best I’ve seen.
They offered a variety of food from around the world!
We had a red-eye flight back to London, so we were able to fully enjoy our last day in Bali! We headed over to Sunday’s Beach Club for a few hours. This was our first actual time at the beach! When we arrived to the hotel that hosts the club, the club was full. So we waited at the pool area and had a little snack, until we got off the waitlist and were taken down to the club.
This place was so much fun! It was really hot, and they gave out free popsicles. We got a great set of chairs beachfront and enjoyed some Bintangs (lemon-flavored beer - I swear they are good and don’t even taste like beer!) and the beautiful ocean. We did get in a bit - it was very warm! We had a pretty good pizza and just relaxed and enjoyed the feeling of the sand between our toes.
We headed back to our hotel and used the spa to shower and change (we’d already checked out), hung out a bit, and then finally headed to the airport to start our journey back to London.
All in all, it was a great first trip to Bali, and I hope to get back there some day! It was quite the journey from London and would be an even longer trip from the States. I would definitely want to spend at least 10 days there to make it worth the travel (especially with kid(s))! This concludes my Bali series. What should I write about next? Italy? Brazil? Morocco? Life in the UK? Mom life? Let me know what you think in the comments!
