A QUICK WEEKEND HOME

Earlier this month, we traveled back home to California, to witness the beautiful nuptials of Kristan and Chris.
For various reasons (new job, etc.) I hadnโt visited home in a YEAR, since the last wedding we attended in California.
It was a quick trip, but it felt so good to be home and spend time with my family. On Friday, we attended the wedding at the lovely Wente Vineyards, and then on Saturday we went to Napa (of course!). It was a wine-filled weekend to say the least.
In Napa, we visited the luxurious Opus One Winery, which was a first for me. This winery is more upscale and a lot pricier, and had a very exclusive vibe to it. We enjoyed our glasses of wine and the beautiful Opus grounds before heading to my favorite, V. Sattui, for lunch. We didnโt taste there because weโve tasted so many times, so we just grabbed a bottle and enjoyed a picnic. I absolutely love the food at the deli, especially the crab cakes, which are my absolute favorite, and the mustard shrimp! The kale salad is fantastic as well, and you canโt go wrong with the sandwiches.
After V. Sattui, we visited Frank Family Winery. Unfortunately, they operate mainly on reservations, so we didnโt get to do a tasting there. They did, however, give us a few โsplashesโ of wine, which practically equated to what a tasting wouldโve consisted of. It was nice.
After Frank Family, we went over to The Grill at Meadowood to enjoy dinner, which ended up being more of appetizers and dessert with a lot of wine, because we were still full from lunch. It was nice to just sit with the family and enjoy the stunning weather, along with the grounds of Meadowood, and of course, wine!
Iโm not sure when weโll be back home again, but this weekend was exactly what we needed!
