TIPS FOR PLANNING YOUR OWN WEDDING

Planning your own wedding can seem like a daunting task, but with the right tools, it truly isn't that bad! I had a little help with our wedding, but did the majority of the leg work myself! Here are my top tips for planning your own wedding:

  1. Have a vision for what you want your wedding to look like.
  2. Decide what your priorities are (i.e. catering, the DJ, your dress, etc.).
  3. Make a separate wedding email address for easy organization. 
  4. Use Excel for budgeting, addresses, and other tasks. 
  5. Use Pinterest for inspiration and for planning times. 
  6. Find vendors using WeddingWire and Yelp. 
  7. READ VENDOR REVIEWS.
  8. Check out venues and vendors on Instagram. 
  9. Enlist friends for help when possible
  10. Trust your gut when it comes to making big decisions.

A Practical Wedding was one of my favorite wedding go-to resources. They're full of resources you didn't know you needed (in a good way!) and provided perspectives that helped me  stay grounded throughout the process. They're the best!

TIPS FOR AVOIDING THE FLU WHILE TRAVELING

It's flu season, and this year the virus that is circulating is particularly bad.

People, both young and old, are dying from it. When you travel, you might be at higher risk for contracting the flu and other illnesses, due to fatigue and stress (which weaken your immune system), being in closer quarters with more people than you might typically be (more opportunities for someone to give it to you), and exposure to surfaces that virus can live on.

How We Planned It: We chose Puerto Rico because it was far enough for people to really relax and disconnect, but without the hassle of a passport, currency exchanges, and a language barrier. I previously visited Puerto Rico several times on vacation and had become familiar with many tourist attractions.
