On Friday in Barcelona, we took a cooking class at Barcelona Cooking. The school is located in La Rambla, a touristy shopping area, not too far from La Boqueria Mercat.
We opted to include the market tour as part of our cooking class, and we loved the market so much we ended up returning the next day. It’s a market, but there are also little tapas restaurants inside and places you can get fresh fruit salads, fruit juice, candies, and more.
In the class, we made bread with tomato, gazpacho, Spanish omelettes, paella, and Catalan creme. All of the food was incredible and even though we were all tasked with making different dishes, I do remember how to make most of the food, as the chef demonstrated each dish before we all got to cooking. The school caters to special dietary constraints, which I found really neat (someone in our class was a vegetarian), and the wine was flowing, which was perfect. We also received a cookbook with all the recipes from the class. Additionally, we purchased a paella pan from the school, so we could make it at home. We have already made paella TWICE at home, and both times it came out amazing. Our chef, Juan, was a great teacher, and we had very cool classmates. All in all, it was a super fun experience and a must-do if you visit BCN and have time!
